Miscellaneous / Re: Year built?

If the sails are the originals off WB17, they were probably made by 'Performance Sails'. That is the case with Markie WB15

That?s great, thanks so much .
I have sails with number 17, but have suspected for a while that they aren?t the right ones.
The job luff has been modified to hanks, I have and old broken fuller gear, and I actually saw another WB with sail No.17 ?Maud? I think, near Ipswich , plus at 17, I assume that would be the lower roof.

So maybe 71 , or I should check my sails again 😀

Many Thanks
Rolly

Hi,

The only WB called Drifter I can find any info on is WB71 built in 1992.  A WB of that age would have the raised coach roof.  The hull colour is marked as 'Stone' as are a good number of WBs of that age.

Hi .
Is there any info about a boat called Drifter ?
She has cream hull and I think, the higher coach roof.

Many Thanks

The Rig / Re: Topsail dimensions

Bucklers Hard - great sailing around the Solent, Brixham - great sailing around Torbay.  But in between, rounding Portland Bill with the overfalls, no thank you.  We looked at doing it but decided it was a lot easier and safer trailering between the two areas.  Good slipways available at both ends.

Hi Jilly,

Hope this link takes you to a useful part of the forum.

Try using the 'Search' function for 'topsail', a lot of old posts pop up.

The Rig / 2:1 jib sheet
Last post by John Burton - July 05, 2022, 08:01:35 PM
When sailing in a fresh breeze sufficient to reef the mainsail, my wife can find it difficult to sheet in the jib adequately. As an experiment I decided to rig up a 2:1 jib sheet arrangement and it certainly seems to work well. Two blocks, one for each side, are attached to the jib clew by a snapshackle. One end of each jib sheet is tied off to a redundant fairlead, led up to and through the block on the jib and returned to the cockpit as normal, in much the same arrangement seen in some racing dinghies. The double block on the jib clew passes across our second forestay easily enough when tacking, the only downside is in light winds the windward sheet might need active easing because of the increased drag. Although experimental initially, it works very well and I think we will keep this set up.

Sailing / Same procedure as last year - ...

Hello Winklebrigger!

I like this thread  ;) because once again we go - 7 days Ijsselmeer, this time counterclockwise, but again starting from Koudum.
After it didn't work out in the last years maybe this time - I would be happy about more WB's on the water there.  8)
