The forum has been really quiet this summer. There have only been about eight postings since July. Is this because of the awful weather? I know I have packed in a day's sailing twice because it was so windy and wet. Has anyone else had better experiences?

Yes the weather has been c**p. We decided to give our usual Easter TSA cruise on the Norfolk Broads a miss (terrible weather). Late May and a week spent in Torquay marina with Partan for company only gave us a few hours sailing due to strong easterlies which built up quite a swell in Torbay. And a few days on Windermere at the end of August, again with Partan, produced only one day's sailing/motoring (rain spoilt things somewhat). We have also taken Markie on two canals this year, firstly as part of the IWA National Trailboat Rally on the Tiverton Canal in Devon over the second May bank holiday weekend (really dreadful wind and rain on the Monday) and a couple of weeks ago on the Montgomery Canal at Welshpool as part of the IWA National Campaign Rally. It is quite a bit of fun on the canals, especially when participating in the night time illuminated parades. We have 3 strings of LED lights coming down from the top of the mast but the parade routes have included bridges and overhanging trees. So the mast has a busy time being lowered and raised (goes down well with the spectators). Thank goodness for the running forestay that makes it so easy.
Our final outing (unless the forecast is dreadful) will once again be on Windermere October 17th-19th as part of the TSA cruise. Join us if you can.

Sailing in the Netherlands was with ups and downs this season.
Some weekends (in the begin of July) were sunny and sail worthy.
Others were rainy and windy. But nevertheless, we have had some marvelous sailing.
We mostly sail on the lakes of Friesland. There you have lakes, canals, little harbors.
With our Winkle Brig we can get at any place. You really should experience this once!
