After a wonderful season sailing WB100 "Wigeon", it's time for us to move on. She's now for sale in West Wales.

- In excellent condition. Spars and sails stored indoors all the time.

Hello all - I'm looking for a pair of the bronze fittings that the shrouds lash to at the lower end. Does anyone know where I can find some?

Hello all - hope you managed to enjoy the wonderful weather we had and get out on a boat!

Here are a few shots from our weekend here in sunny West Wales.

We had a couple of nights aboard on the Teifi river, sailed with friends in the estuary, and had a couple of trips out to sea. Not much wind, so we didn't get around Cardigan island this time, but it was superb being out nonetheless. The last high tide of the weekend was around midnight last night so we had one last try at an island circumnavigation under the stars ... again just a zephyr of a breeze so not many miles covered, but at least it was good to use the new nav lights and get familiar with the boat in the dark.

The staysail is new; a friend at the club just happened to have a tanbark one the right size which was lucky. I still have to put fairleads in to get the right sheeting angle but it's handy to have; even if only for a little bit of maneuvering power when coming to a mooring or beach under sail.

I learnt that it's important to pull the keels up when coming to and laying on a mooring ... they catch very easily, especially if there's a tide running and the boat swings around a bit.

Does anyone have drying out legs? Or something to keep the boat fairly level when spending the night on board on the sand? We had just enough water to float on the nights we were aboard, but I can imagine the heel being pretty uncomfortable on a flat beach (with 2 and a half people aboard, we can't all sleep on the leeward side!)

Hello all. I'm considering changing my grp bulwarks to timber. Those of you who have taken yours off ... Are they straight timber that forms to the sheer line as they bolt on, or is there a sheer curve built in to the shape (which would require wider timber to start with before cutting).

I can't quite figure this out by eye, and would rather have some confirmation before I unbolt and measure, if possible!

Hello all. Does anyone know where I can find a pair of the bronze shroud 'chainplates' that attach to the coachroof? I'm fitting an extra set of shrouds. I see a few others have done the same (Mudlark, Winkle) Chris

Over the last week I've had great success with a new back winch added to my Indespension Roller Coaster 3 trailer. I added it to make it easier to self launch, especially on shallow slipways. With a 1200lb winch working on a 2:1 set of pulleys, 8mm dyneema and some galvanised/SS parts from eBay and now I can pull her off backwards to tipping point without trouble. The dyneema is fixed to the axle at the middle, runs fwd to a pulley on a detachable strop connected to the bow eye, back to a pulley on the axle, and then fwd to the winch hook.

On a shallow slip like we have here in Cardigan (as per photos) I found it better to unhitch the trailer (with wheel chocks on) and let the front rise a couple of feet both when launching and recovering. I tie the trailer to the car anyway just in case.

I launched at Lawrenny on the Cleddau this weekend which is a much steeper slip and found that I could manage fine with the trailer still hitched to the car. There's a fair bit of upward pull on the tow hook but it all feels perfectly safe.

Now I'm ready for single handed trips

I'm keen to buy a Winkle Brig, but yet to cross paths with someone that I can meet up with to get a feel for the boat 'in the flesh'. Later this month I'm driving from Cardigan in Wales to Peebles in Scotland, and would love to stop by anyone that has a Winkle Brig that my wife and I can have a look at. Either in the water on in their yard, it doesn't matter!

Hello all! I'm very interested in buying a Winkle Brig, and would love to come and have a look at one relatively close to me before opening up the search for a purchase further afield. I'm in Cardigan, Wales. Does anyone have a boat in Wales I could come and see? Or even better, a sail would be wonderful!
