Miscellaneous / Book just published
August 15, 2021, 12:25:17 PM
I hope I am allowed to make this post.  Former WB owners, Valerie and Neil McBroom have just published a book  recounting their sailing adventures over 50 years, including their time as owners of Brig O'Dale WB88.  We had memorable times together, attending the IFOS events from 1996 to 2005.

Miscellaneous / Trailer Suspension for sale
April 20, 2018, 05:23:40 PM
Hi,

After replacing my trailer suspension units last year as a precaution for our trip to Ireland, I want to give away the old suspension units (Avonride 1300kg) three wheels and 4 tyres, 2 x Avonride Supervan 6 ply rating 175R13, minimal tread wear,2004 vintage but no signs of deterioration and 2 x Hankook RA08 8 ply rating again 175R13, one on a rim, one unfitted, both unused and 2007 vintage.
The suspension units were working fine although the inside of the drums were corroded but cleaned up ok with emery cloth, not sure of their condition now.  Brake shoes recently replaced and bearings were fine, no overheating.  One good brake cable included.
Free to new home as long as they are used to transport a Winkle Brig.  You will need new mudguards if you are replacing 860kg units with 12 inch wheels.
New owner to collect or can possibly deliver if close to A1/A17/A47 Northumberland to Norfolk Broads.

Sailing / Shannon Earne Waterway
September 30, 2016, 08:38:24 PM
Hi, I am thinking of taking Markie next year to the Shannon Earne Waterway (ferry from Cairnryan to Larne).  Has anyone any info re slipways, good mooring spots, anything at all?

Sailing / TRail Sail Easter Cruise 2015
March 29, 2015, 05:16:08 PM
Hi Everyone,

The sailing season for Markie starts next weekend when we trail from Northumberland down to the Norfolk Broads to join up with the Trail Sail Association Easter Cruise and seeing the fleet assemble on Good Friday afternoon at West Somerton. We will then walk the short distance to The Lion for some excellent pub grub followed by the traditional TSA Easter Quiz.

If you can make it to West Somerton, with or without a boat, you will be most welcome to join us in the Lion, please just post to this topic how many people, if any, will be coming and if you will be eating in the Lion so I can give numbers to the landlord.

If anyone would like to come with a boat but needs information/advice on launch sites etc., add to this topic and I can add options.

Or if someone will be without a boat but would like to join us on Markie for a sail over the weekend, again just add to this post.
