The Engine / Re: Electric outboards.
November 10, 2022, 08:52:28 PM
I have just removed my boat from the river after my first season and am very happy with the way it has performed with my Epropulsion spirit plus. I have done some very approximate readings on the river that show flat out it does about 5 mph which I think is close to the max hull speed. More interesting is that at 200W you get about 3.5 mph, at 400W 4.0mph, 500W 4.2 mph and thereafter an increase of about 0.1 mph per 100w which shows there is no point in trying to go too fast! I get a good 10 miles at about 300W with at least 25% battery left. I also have bought a second battery for peace of mind. One point worth making is that the battery is designed to automatically discharge to 75% after 20 days of inactivity so it is worth recharging it before setting of to make sure you have maximum range.

The Hull / Antifouling.
November 10, 2022, 11:07:33 AM
I am considering having my boat antifouled with coppercoat epoxy antifouling so that I will not have to do it again for 10 years. Apart from the initial cost of the coppercoat the other problem seems to be that all the existing coverings down to the gel coat have to be removed. Does anyone have any experience of this antifouling or know where I can get it done?

Trailers, towing & launching / Re: Trailer For Sale.
November 10, 2022, 10:57:23 AM
I have bought an ordinary trailer with rollers from Extreme trailers  the same as Gerald Brown uses. It is very easy to use and recovers the boat without any problems but the wheels do go in the water. This is not a problem for me as I mainly use it in fresh water.

Sorry not to have replied sooner but I have only just seen this. The trailer was sold in the spring, and I have enjoyed using my new trailer this summer which makes recovering and launching very easy.

Hi Dave,
Can you tell me when Cockle WB 106 was built and who the first owner was? I am interested as I have just bought her. Thanks, Chris.

I have just bought WB 106 Cockle so have become part of the WB family. Thank you to the 2 WB owners who were moored at Horsey Mere last summer while I was there in my small Broads yacht and introduced me to the WB. I am looking forward to sailing it next Summer.

I am hoping to buy a Winkle Brig. A the moment I use an Epropulsion Spirit plus on my current boat on inland waters. Does anyone know if this will fit on a WB and how it performs?
