I've seen Gerard's trailer , very smart, I can see why you like the extreme trailers.

Many Thanks

Thanks, I tend not to check the forum too often either 😀

Can I ask what you have instead of the roller coaster?

I use a breakback which almost works very well, but just can't keep the wheels dry as much as I'd like .

Thanks

Miscellaneous / Re: Year built?
July 22, 2022, 12:37:16 PM
That?s great, thanks so much .
I have sails with number 17, but have suspected for a while that they aren?t the right ones.
The job luff has been modified to hanks, I have and old broken fuller gear, and I actually saw another WB with sail No.17 ?Maud? I think, near Ipswich , plus at 17, I assume that would be the lower roof.

So maybe 71 , or I should check my sails again 😀

Many Thanks

Hi .
Is there any info about a boat called Drifter ?
She has cream hull and I think, the higher coach roof.

Many Thanks

Sailing / Launch Spot at Salcombe and/or Plymouth
August 22, 2020, 12:40:55 PM
Thinking of heading down to Salcombe and Kingsbridge estuary for a few days and/or maybe over to The Tamar , would be interested to hear any recommendations for slipways . Can self launch easily enough but also keen to leave the trailer somewhere safe for a couple of nights while at anchor.

Many Thanks

The Hull / Re: Bulwarks

Hi . Would oiling be a mistake ? Osmo oil or Danish ? I like the idea of something that soaks in rather than sits on the timber .

The Hull / Bobstay eye
September 07, 2019, 10:08:11 PM
My WB bobstay eye is a single "eye-bolt" type , rather than a U-bolt type that I have also seen .
It turns , rotates, did seem to tighten to a stop , now seems to not ...

Overall, seems lightweight an therefore concerning.

Seems to be below the level of the inner moulding and not visible from inside, which isn't ideal... I guess, to replace with something stronger means cutting through the inner moulding .... which sounds messy and full of risk...

Ideas, thoughts and experiences welcome .

Thanks

Many Thanks,
I did and you're right it did work , although wasn't quick, it took about 2 weeks to find its way through... all well in the end .

Thanks for comments , I did launch at Swallowtail, Ludham, and you're right , a lovely spot , great people and a great slipway . £35 for launch and parking for the week, but a nice feeling and a safe place for the trailer . Also , as you say , a great location for the north broads.

The OGA guys say they used to sale from Bureside, I should have checked it out as I passed. They say The Lion at Thurne is a good pub too.

I wasn't over impressed with the trailer parking at Sutton Staithe Boatyard, felt a bit like grass at the side of the main road, although the people were friendly. £6 each way , no parking fee,

There was a good slip at Wayford , but only passed by , don't have any info.

Barton Turf Adventure Centre itself, was a good base for the OGA, and good value but slipways not suitable for a Winkle Brig. Cox's boatyard say "no cars on our slip" which I assume means they launch with their tractor, not sure on costs .

Many Thanks

Hi , wondering if anyone has experience of launching at Barton Turf Adventure Centre on the Broads.... slipway sounds tight !?!?

Am thinking to go up there this summer with the OGA , I'll give the yard a call yo chat through , but wondered if anyone has any experience.

Thanks

The Rig / Re: Wanted: Shroud plates
June 12, 2019, 11:33:35 PM
Hi John ,

That makes perfect sense to me .
Belt and braces is the best way .

I suspect I'll work towards the same, both forestay and shrouds.

I don't see the point of bottle screws on the shrouds , not on this rig , as long as there's enough articulation in the shackle / lanyard connection to the plates , I suspect a double shackle will be fine .

I'm also working on a long sock , to pull over the mast when lowered, to keep all the lines tidy and dry , so less there is to clutter up , the better .

Thanks , all the best
Rolly
