In some conditions I get quite a large amount of water sloshing up from the engine well. I have made floor boards to keep my feet dry, and when at sea, I remove the engine and seal off the well. However I would be very interested to hear if anyone has managed to reduce the aperture with the engine in place. Any pictures would be interesting.

I leave split boards in position all the time as it eliminates any turbulence in the well which must have some beneficial effect on performance. This is mentioned on my website. The boards are held in place with a bungy rope around the engine. They are easily removed from the cockpit if you have to take the engine out. The edges of each board have a small wood lip to help location and the rear edge has a stainless clip which locates over the lip of the well and the front edge has a stainless strap or lacing eye through which you can attach the hook of the bungy rope. Best to leave a little clearance around engine leg to stop any vibration.
