Has anyone with a high peak gaff rig had a new mainsail made recently? I would welcome any feedback,re the maker and the performance of the sail, also the costs. There do seem to be a lot of makers on line, but maybe not for the smaller vessel.

Hi Phil, I've not had a sail made for this boat, but if it's any use to you, a Sailmaker I've used for over 25 years, made me a suit of sails, to pattern, for a previous boat. The Jib included hanks and the main had two sets of reefing cringles. His total cost was less than the cost of a main from some of the larger makers. Can't say what it performed like, as I'd nothing to compare against. He's based on the Wirral, but would do mail order. If you want to follow it up, give me contact details.
