We've just bought a torqeedo travel 1103 short shaft for Bittern. It means on the Norfolk broads she's classed as un powered so the annual toll is just £76 PA. No petrol or oil to carry, no smell, no noise and no engineering maintenance. Yes it's not cheap...£1725 but....OK so 10 hours battery use. Charges from mains or solar. We have one of these, an earlier model, on the tender of another boat we have elsewhere and have been very impressed. The big angst was would it fit, and it does, with a cm to spare!
