Title: leather
Post by: Clint on October 06, 2015, 05:55:35 PM
I'm not really sure where to post this. I am finally making some real progress getting Bebop-A-Lulu finished. I am now in the process of trying to remember where, and how everything goes back on. (Thank goodness I took photographs of everything before I stripped her). Can anyone advise me on what the best way is to cut the leather for these?

I went to my local saddler in Southport, with the old leathers. He gave me some offcuts and I cut them roughly to size with my stanley knife.
On his advice I soaked them in water and stretched them over the wood , securing with new copper tacks bought on ebay. One side at a time.
After they had dried out, they were coated several times with Neats Foot oil.
