Alternatively, would anyone like to measure their WB for the handicappers? I've attached the form pages in case someone would like to have a go.

Miscellaneous / Racing Handicap

Gilbert Hayward is organising a South West Gaffers rally on the River Dart on 10th August as part of 'Ditsum Regatta'. He has an annual gaffers race using the OGA T(H)CF handicap with 1 and possibly 2 Winkle Brigs entering. Does anyone know if any Winkle Brig has been measured for this handicap?

There seemed to be a problem with the "Captcha" code (the bit where you enter some characters to show you are human). I've temporarily removed the code so the Contact page should now work. If I get swamped by junk I'll find a way around the problem!
Regards to all and sorry for the confusion!

Hello Roly,
Only just seen your question, so it's a bit late to reply!
However, in case someone else has the problem next winter, I suggest you raise the bow further, so that the water drains to the stern where the bilge pump should be able to suck it out. It's worked for me in the past.

Miscellaneous / Dutch Winklebrig for sale
June 25, 2019, 09:25:29 AM
From Thea Kuling-Fibbe

Hi! Boat a tiny house on the water with a mooring for a small boat. Looking for a small nice boat I found this one.
https://www.yachtfocus.com/gebruikte-boten-te-koop/details/jachthaven-noordschans/146711/winkle-brig-16.html

It is the 95 I think. Any idea if the price of 6900 euro is realistic?

I don't know anything about these type of boats, only that they are very quite! Kind regards from Holland.

Just read your post on the website..No wonder I cant quite remember ..its 9 years ago!.....you could try and tap one out and see if it moves...I may have drilled thro to weaken the pin before drfting it out.  Best do it on the bench and rebed with a squirt of sikoflex sealant.  At 75 the old memory has been damaged by years of Rum drinking.     Hi, are you referring to the sheaves on the cabin top front?  When I renewed all the nylons, I removed the bronzes, polished them up and lacquered them, before fitting the new sheaves in the workshop vice.  I cant really remember how tight the pins were.... and if I " tapped over" the pin ends a bit.  I remember thinking at the time that the whole arrangement was rather sticky for them to revolve. They had previously been a bit solid and worn down unevenly. Hope this helps..I may have a few spares. Rgds Phil.

With over 10 years of sailing and maintaining our own Winklebrig, we are now pleased to be able to offer a bespoke renovation service to all Winklebrig owners to keep your pride and joy on the water

Based in Gosport, our highly skilled shipwrights offer a Douglas Fir replacement to the aluminium mast, refurbish or replace bulwarks, gratings and cabin hatches, supply mast hoops and varnish, antifoul, paint or polish your Winklebrig.  We also undertake GRP repairs using eco resins and natural fibre cloths to support the minimal environmental impact of sailing a Winklebrig. We are able to either visit you or for a complete refurbishment transport your boat to our yard.

Hi Ross - personally I wouldn't try shooting Potter Heigham bridge until you are absolutely certain you can do it! It's probably the worst bridge on the Broads.  :o

Acle bridge is probably the most straightforward - at least you can see a reasonable distance through the bridge  to see what's coming at you!  8)

Best of luck
