Title: Mystery item
Post by: Clint on May 12, 2014, 07:52:55 PM
What is this strange thing for, l found it hidden in the depths of the boat. I am guessing it is for the boom, and the gaff to rest on when the mast is down, and somehow ties onto the coachroof.

Not seen one before - but my WB is an early one. Is it from a more recent boat? Anyone know?

Here (hopefully if all goes well) is a picture taken from the July 1992 issue of Yachting Monthly when WB57 was 'tested' alongside a Cornish Shrimper, Drascombe Coaster and a Norfolk Gypsy.
The text with the photo says 'This moulding and adjustable gallows on the Winkle Brig makes for very easy mast stowing'.

Excellent thank you, I had a sneaky feeling it had something to do with masts or booms, I just had the location wrong.
